Just a reminder and date change!
Our Math Acuity Test will be NEXT Wednesday the 23rd! The kids are not quite ready to take it this week so we are postponing until next week. This test covers Go Math chapters 4-7. This includes division, common factors, prime and composite numbers, patterns, and fractions. Students must be able to find equivalent fractions, simplify fractions, compare fractions, and add fractions and mixed numbers. Thanks for supporting your student by going over these concepts. Head to www.thinkcentral.com/index.htm to see our math text book and other interactive games and manipulatives. You will need to click on "Go Math" and Granite School District, then our school name!
Have fun reviewing with your student!
We are on a quest for KNOWLEDGE! This month we are focusing on "Nature's Delicate Balance" and how we play a role in protecting and preserving our environment!

Fractions!
This past week we have been learning all about parts of a whole or parts of a set. What this really means is that we have been learning about fractions!
We have learned how to draw and understand fractions.
We have learned how to simplify a fraction using dot pictures and the GCF (greatest common factor).
We have learned how to make equivalent fractions with fraction tiles and using multiplication.
We have learned how to use the LCM (least common multiple) to make common denominators.
Here are some APPS that are fun to practice Fractions with:
Fractions Smart Pirate
Fraction's Kitchen Free
Splash Math
Pizza Fractions
Fractions App By Tap to Learn
Most of these Apps are free or 0.99. The kids have played many of these on their IPods here at school.
I hope that this information is helpful! If you have any questions please feel free to comment or email me!
